I use this quote with my children and my students all the time, and today I had to remind myself. We love the ocean and are awe struck because of its vast expanse - the way is reminds us of how small we are, the way letting it wash over us makes us feel big and small at the same time. I love this quote because it reminds me of the great capacity and possibility we have to not just be tossed about by the waves of this life but to change tides and chart coarse.
